After a shitty couple of days couped up inside dealing with rashes*, creepy crawlies and general domestic chaos, I was relieved when my sister in law called and suggested we take our three girls out for a walk down by the beach (or "The Strand" as it's known around these parts). Imagine our delight when we discovered a trail of fun installations along the beach, part of the Strand Ephemera, a public exhibit currently being held.

Nothing like giant liquorice all-sorts in the sand and a fountain of cascading rainbow bottle tops to really turn your mood around.

Wishing you a fun and colourful weekend!

P.S - Thanks for the concerns about the rash - it doesn't look like a nickle allergy at this stage because even the clasp is made from amber! Crazy, I know... but she still reacted like that! Oh, and as for the meal times - I definitely need to start making more of an effort with the 'family meal' thing. We'll get there...

  8. Oh, I remember seeing the Stand Ephemera a few years ago. It was fantastic. There was a HUGE rubber duckie out in the water which was a particular favourite. Such a fantastic idea and beautiful photos.

Glad to hear it isn't a nickle allergy! Perhaps the claps is faux amber though? Given that amber is so soft? Just a thought. I used to sell a lot of Amber when I worked in a jewellery store in the City and I have never heard of an allergy to amber. Maybe try wiping the necklace down with a wet cloth in case it has something else on it and then wrap it around her wrist (once the rash clears up) and see if she has another reaction to it? Again, just a thought. The jeweller in me can't help myself. :)

  13. Another one who stumbled across your blog and its gorgeous snippets of life up north. How wonderful to find giant lollies in the sand -- dsuch delicious photos! I am just wondering whether Lailie's rash is a bit of heat rash; if often appears in that area and can come and go at all sorts of times.
