A burst of neon to start the week. I'm feeling particularly vibrant after four consecutive nights of uninterrupted sleep! Let's just hope she keeps it up... though chances are I've just gone and jinxed myself. Hmph.

Our weekend was spent mostly at home, trying to improve our back yard (meaning Paddy did all the manual labour - cutting down trees, mowing lawn and planting shrubs - whilst I spent hours 'pinning' pictures of lovely landscaping). Such is the role of the 'researcher' I tell him.

I know these fluro images have nothing to do with what I'm rambling on about - I will post some before and after's of our renovation soon. Actually, 'before and during' is probably more like it - nothing is really finished. I'm not sure there will ever be an 'after'. Last night we watched an episode of UK Grand Designs and the owner of the house said "I don't think a renovation is ever finished. There will always be something else to do. And when that's done, you'll think of some other way of improving it".

Great. Just what we needed to hear.

1. chalk and treasures
2. while she was sleeping
3. high voltage colour
4. inside bath
5. outside bath
6. vintage top and favourite book

Hope your week is off to a colourful start!

  1. That show is so inspiring and always has me dreaming of putting our grand design into action :)

Sounds like one productive weekend...who said letting your fingers do the walking wasn't work? :)

  2. Good luck Claire.

I honestly had a giggle as my husband is also doing most of the manual labour while I sit on my iPad and pin in my 'reseacher' role.

Looking forward to the before & after shots!

We're desperately trying to get our entire front & back done in 8 weeks before our Max's first birthday.

    Le sigh.

  8. Considering "The Renovators" is almost finished and I watched the entire series of "The Block" you could consider me a renovation expert - except for the fact that I've done very little 'renovating' myself. To say I'm addicted to said shows would be an understatement...but oh to have a little cottage and an endless flow of cash.

    I'm nothin' but a dreamer ;)

  15. Oh that beautiful babe in the pool, so cute! :o)
Gorgeous images Claire and it is SO important to have a researcher in any reno situation, may as well be your good self ;o)
I totally agree about reno's though, by the time you get around to "finishing", the areas you started on need fixing up again. And so the cycle continues xo

  20. Loving your images above and also from your last post. That bath pic is priceless!
And that grand Designs guy was right - especially with kids. Walls get fingerprints and crayons, paint gets chipped and floors scratched. I never think of "finishing" our house anymore like I used to, but rather as a work in progress.

  21. Hi Claire! I ended up here after seeing Eulalie's nursery tour on Ohdeedoh and just wanted to say hi! I live on Bribie with my husband and 21 month old, Jonah. It is so nice to meet you via your blog. Happy summer to you and your family!

  22. Ok, this is the second time I've looked at this post and I cannot for the life of me figure out what is on the list underneath lattes??? And furthermore, have you or Paddy (whoever chalked the list), had a previous life as a sign writer? Impressive scrawl. Kellie xx

  23. Love the Neon. I needed that colour burst, we are seriously lacking colour here in our new white walled home - work in progress. How squishably devine is Lalie!! x

  24. We have been recording Grand Designs and watching episodes when we have time - we just watched the barn restoration/conversion. Oh! I'd love to do a barn conversion... Or better yet, a warehouse conversion.

We so desperately need to work on our backyard, but the interior comes first. We fondly refer to our yard as 'the jungle'...

Every time I see that fluro pink pool it reminds me to look around for something similar for Everly this summer!

  26. I know what you mean, there's always something else that feels not quite finished at our hut, like upholstery or the landscaping etc. The hut will always be a work in progress.
