nine months

Nine and a bit months. Actually, make that nine and a half months. Better late than never, right? I really don't want to fall off the monthly portrait band-wagon before (at least) seeing the first twelve months through... so a happy 9.5 to our little Lalie Bug!

I've been a bit of a boring complainer of late - mostly completely due to my own issues - but if I'm totally honest, Eulalie is rather delightful at this age... of course, there's some challenges - teething? Sure. Busy? Yup. Into everything? Certainly. Totally fun, loveable and hilarious? You betcha! We couldn't be more proud of our little Bug.

Likes: the dogs, peek-a-boo, drinking water, swinging doors back and forth, standing whilst holding various furnishings, family visits, crawling, 360 pivots on the floor, emptying the entire contents of a sippy cup on herself, playing with her big cousin, throwing food off the highchair, sitting in the trolley at the shops, playing with things she shouldn't be, reading books, rummaging through the nappy bag, being tickled, standing in her cot, splashing in the pool, shaking maracas, kissing her toys, watching the breeze through the trees, asparagus and bath time.

Dislikes: Getting dressed, waiting for food, receiving teeth, banana, things being taken away from her, not being carried (mostly in the evenings), wearing a bib, sleeping in the pram, Mummy trying to do housework, Mummy being on the computer.

A little less blogging seems to be just what I need at the moment. I was using her sleep times to blog and read blogs - and then trying to complete other tasks while she was awake, which made for a disgruntled baby and a frustrated Mumma. I've realised this blog has been sneaking up on my list of priorities. I was all out of balance. So I've been making a shift. I feel this past week we've been getting the best of each other, and it's a beautiful thing.

As for the housework - I'm learning to live with things undone. In the process I just might be on my way to weaving a much tighter, happier bond with my baby. Not exactly rocket science - but basic priorities can seem to get muddled up in the foggy haze of sleep deprivation.

  3. Such a balancing act, isn't it? I find it hard to work out just how best to spend those precious nap times to ensure I can cope with the state of the house while also managing some crucial me time (and computer time). Sounds like you're doing a good job of working out what works for you both. And she looks like a gorgeous, happy little girl...

  10. She is JUST too beautiful!

    You're doing a wonderful job :)

I'm only able to allow blogging to suck so much of my time because I do the most of it while I work night shifts.

You've found a great balance, don't let it chip into your time, or your family time.

    xx

  14. Oh Claire! These portraits are simply beautiful. What a gorgeous baby girl you have... and loving her little playsuit, could just eat her on toast :o)
You are one clever Mama taking a back seat with blogging for a bit. I find it all a bit overwhelming also, it's like an addiction and I need to learn when enough's enough myself. But I'll never be able to stop, I fear :o/ xo

  15. Your wee girl is just beautiful Claire! I'm glad you feel like you are finding a bit more balance in your life (it is such a juggling act isn't it?) and enjoying your time with Eulalie. I can relate to loosing sight of your priorities - I'm sure we all do at times and something always has to give. I hope you are feeling good this week and that that wretched sleep deprivation isn't wreaking too much havoc! I'm sure you're doing a beautiful job Claire. Best wishes x

  16. I've just got to say that I started reading your blog a couple of months ago, and whilst I've been really enjoying it, I've also been a little astounded at all your postings! So many! My baby is 9 months in a couple of days and I barely have time to blink, so it makes me feel a little better to hear that there's nothing wrong with my complete and utter lack of time, my messy house and hours I spend sitting on the floor playing blocks with my girl!

And Lalie is just beautiful! :)

On a side note, I can completely relate to you about needing to find a balance with family life/housework/blogging!

  22. Golly she's gorgeous! I hear you - when my girls are asleep, I find myself almost running around in circles trying to decide what to do what to do what to do. And by the time I've decided, they're awake!

  23. Beautiful photos of your gorgeous baby. I love your blog - just one tiny bit of friendly feedback - the font size and colour is so hard to read - maybe just me, but I find it takes away from your lovely writing! x

  24. We are finding this age pretty crazy and hectic and fun too.

It's hard work getting the balance right.. what works one day doesn't always work the next..

We just got a cleaner in once a week and I'm wondering why we didn't do this earlier.. has really taken some of the pressure off.

  25. Happy 9 months baby girl, you look so delicious in these photos.

It took me 18 months to start accepting a messy house – really start accepting it and not just telling myself I do and then exploding. But when I realised I had a toddler and no longer a baby I decided housework can wait... because god that time went quick.

Hope you're having a happy weekend. xx

  28. She's just too cute, Claire! And I'm with you on the blogging. I decided to blog weekly, but I somehow ended up posting two or three times a week... so now I'm taking a break and toning it back. Happy mummy = happy baby! x
