While Paddy is out getting last minute cyclone supplies (there are a couple brewing off the coast), I've made myself useless by drying flower buds from Eulalie's birth flowers... and decorating her nursery with this gorgeous wall hanging my friend Miriam made for our new little girl. She has used antique kimino silk found on a trip to tasmania and the printed fabric was the same fabric Miriam used for our homemade marmalade wedding favours. A very special keepsake from a very special friend.

Back to the cyclones - the more concerning storm is expected to cross the coast on Thursday. Quite scary for us considering we live in an old Queenslander which is basically built out of timber louvers and glass casement windows. Fingers crossed the weather will decide to behave itself, though we've seen no mercy from Mother Nature over the past few weeks so we are preparing ourselves for the worst.

Yesterday was my 28th Birthday and Eulalie turned a whole one week old. Obviously, Australia Day gets a mention too. Despite the big occasion, celebrations were mild. We took Eulalie on her first visit to Grandma's house for delicious eggs benedict. Later on at Grandads we visited my pony, Goldie who I have had since I was six years old. Now she is 34 which is very old in pony years. I hope she stays with us long enough for Eulalie to sit up on her back - perhaps another 2 years, that's how old my little sister was when she started riding.

When I look at how tiny and dependent my brand new little girl is, I am torn between wanting her to stay like this forever... but at the same time I'm so excited for all the amazing adventures to be had and memories we're going to make as she grows. I just can't wait to watch her little life unfold.

Eulalie Iris.
It was you all along.
All the guessing, wondering, dreaming.
Boy? Girl? Hair? Big? Small? Dark? Fair?
And it was you all along.
Our little girl.
Seven pounds four ounces.
Perfection.

Don't be shy, little one. We are here... ready and waiting to welcome you to our nest.

Well... over a month has passed since I last blogged. Christmas and New Year were quiet, family affairs. The rain poured and poured. Thankfully, North Queensland has managed to escape the complete devastation that has affected most of the south east. Watching thousands of people lose everything they own has certainly put a stop to our whining about how much renovating we still want to do. I feel very fortunate for all that we have, and I eagerly anticipate the joy that is just around the corner.

Yesterday was my due date. It came and went. I have a feeling this little one is going to be quite happy on the inside for a few more days to come. I thought I should get a snap of the bump on the due date, though. The afternoon swim was a well deserved treat after a weekend of crazy nesting.
