a birthday at the aquarium

The week before last, I took Lalie along to the local aquarium for her cousin Keeley's 3rd birthday. Reef HQ is the world's largest living coral reef aquarium and is brimming with slippery, scaly delights. We all loved it, kiddos and grown ups alike. Everyone purchased (insanely cheap!) yearly passes, and with children under 5 going free, we're planning to see lots more of our new fishy friends over the coming few years!

I love the seahorse. When I was a little girl one of my most treasured possesions was a seahorse my dad found at the beach. I kept it for years and years in a matchbox. I remember taking it to kindy for news, wish I still had it.

Absolutely magic photos Claire, they really come to life, right off the page. Such wonderful memories for the kidlets and it's always nice to have unlimited passes to places like that, as there is usually just too much to see in one day xo

Holy crap Claire, these are ridiculously amazing photos. What program are you using? I echo the seahorse sentiments and that last one - Wow!
Yearly passes are the best and allow you to pop in for a short period of time and not feel like you should stay for hours to get your money's worth. xx

Amazingly beautiful images, Claire. I have such great memories from going to the aquarium as a kid (and one terrifying one of my uncle threatening to smash the glass so the sharks would come out and eat us – yeah, nice one!)

PS. my favourite picture is the fifth one. You've captured the mood of the aquarium there perfectly. I used to sit at the London aquarium like this for hours and watch the sharks, it felt kind of beautiful and sad at the same time.

Beautiful photos. My 20 month old son absolutely adores the aquarium. I've never seen him so mesmerized, and just happy! I think we should have gotten a yearly pass as well.

What a great way to spend a birthday and everybody looks like they had a marvellous time! How great to be so close to such an amazing aquarium and one that you'll get to see so regularly now.
