Pretty. Impractical.

I scored this rug for a tenner at a Sydney op-shop two years ago. Paddy never really warmed to it and so it never made an appearance in our old apartment. But I did manage to sneakily squeeze it into the removalist's truck when we moved up here. Since then it's been leading a rather dismal existence - banished to storage under the house along with other various furnishings that we can't agree on.

But hey, while the cat's away... this mouse is having a play! So far, my favourite home for it is the kitchen - completely impractical, I know. I wonder how long I can ignore that minor detail.

Oh, and please excuse the dark, obscurely angled images. It's grey again today (hmph!) and I need want a wider lens to photograph my awkwardly shaped kitchen (which we've recently renovated - I hope to share the process with you soon).

I hope you're having a wonderful week, wherever you are :)

  1. After we first moved into our house my husband and I couldn't agree on where to hang any of our artwork...he would hang it in one place and then when he was out I would move it only to go out myself and find that it had been moved back while I was gone! We have found homes for most things now and nothing has moved in a while!

  8. Hehe, I have a rug down in the kitchen at the moment too. I'm ignoring the impractical side and just enjoying it for now!

Yours is a whole lot prettier than this one though!

  9. Love the rug, just don't make scones or anything that needs a dusting of flour near it. Husbands with opinions... well that is a WHOLE other blog post about to be written at my place! melx

  14. I love that rug! Looks gorgeous against the wooden boards.
I also sneak op-shopped items into the house when husband is away. He's come to expect it now!
Glad Lalie's on the mend. Have a lovely weekend Claire xx

  15. Ha, what a score. We've lived in Army housing for 15+ years of marriage, i'm a designer, it's killing me!! We can only hang limited artwork, so once we build our own home, i'm going bonkers!! Love Posie

  16. Ooh is that a CWA Classics door-stop of a book I spy? I designed that in my former life as book designer (when I say designed there wasn't that much to it, most pages are the same!)
You're so clever at the op-shop finds, I suck at it!

    1. Why, yes it is! And I totally judge books by their cover - so the reason this made it into my home is because you made it look so good, Claire! x
